The 10th Baltic Economic Forum will take place in Riga, Latvia, on June 12th, 2009. This year the emphasis of the Forum will be on the Baltic States' economic development focusing on banking sector and energy issues.

 

10th Baltic Economic Forum is co-organized by the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, Economists Association 2010 and Latvian Business School. Forum 2009 is supported by Association of Latvian Commercial Banks, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Daimler AG Mercedes-Benz official representative in Latvia company “Domenikss”.

 

Forum will be opened by speeches of the Prime Minister of Latvia Mr Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister of Lithuania Mr Andrius Kubilius and Head of European Commission Vice President Siim Kallas’ Cabinet Mr Henrik Hololei.

 

Several panel sessions and open round tables will be conducted during the Forum with the participation of major Baltic companies, organizations and professional associations representatives. Participation is confirmed by representatives from International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Ministry of Economics of Latvia, European Reconstruction and Development Bank, Lithuanian Banks Association, Latvian Hotels and Restaurants Association, Swedbank, SEB, AirBaltic, E.ON Ruhrgas International, Ernst & Young and more. The key note speech in the frames of Energy Section will be given by Prof. Art Ragauskas from the Institute of Paper Science and Technology in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA.
